The wind roared like a mythic beast, swirling snow into a relentless white fog. Lisa’s trembling hands clutched the satellite phone, her only hope of reaching civilization from this godforsaken corner of the Antarctic. But try as she might, there was no signal at all.
She stared at the black screen, a mirror reflecting her growing despair. This was supposed to be a routine research expedition. And yet, here she was, stuck in an icebound wilderness, trapped inside a makeshift shelter as her team lay unconscious, stricken by a sudden illness.
